As the 2025 hurricane season gets underway, the Verizon and the United Way of Southwest Alabama are hosting a series of free workshops designed to help residents prepare for severe weather events. 

The third Disaster Resilience Workshop will take place on August 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bayou La Batre Community Center.

The event will offer participants practical guidance for preparing your families and homes for disasters. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required, and the first 75 registrants will be entered into a drawing for a generator.
