The energy consumed by the average home is responsible for 2 to 3 times the greenhouse gasses of the average car. But with fairly simple improvements, you can reduce your energy consumption by 10% to 30% on average – saving you money while helping stop global warming.

Gulf Coast Creation Care and Mobile County Health Department are hosting a free Home Energy Clinic to teach you how to make free or inexpensive upgrades that will make your home more energy efficient, saving you money and helping the planet. The classroom portion of the workshop will be held at Goodwill Gulf Coast, 2440 Gordon Smith Dr., Mobile, AL. Lunch is included. Participants are encouraged to stay after lunch for a hands-on workshop airsealing a local home from 2-4 pm.

Stephen Guesman, a green building educator and builder from northern Alabama, leads the workshop, which teaches the most cost-effective, energy-efficient methods for duct sealing, air sealing, insulation, and natural cooling. You will also learn what products to buy and which ones NOT to buy. He will also address the issues of indoor air quality, moisture, mold, and ventilation.
