DESCRIPTION:Join the Greater Mobile (AL) Chapter of The Links\, Incorporated for a Candidate Forum focused on the 2026 midterm primary races for Alabama House Districts 97 and 99 and the Mobile County Sheriff’s race. Presented in the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Technology Hall at the downtown Bishop State campus. \n\n\n\nThis forum will provide an opportunity to hear directly from candidates and learn more about the issues that impact our community. From 5 – 5:30 pm the Mobile County Probate Court will be demonstrating an accessible voting machine for disabled persons and a ballot counting machine. \n\n\n\nYouth will play an active role in the program by helping research candidates\, develop questions\, promote the event\, and participate in the discussion. \n\n\n\nThis event is presented in partnership with Bishop State Community College\, the League of Women Voters\, NAACP\, National Pan-Hellenic Council\, and Mobile United to support voter education and engagement. \n\n\n\nThe event is free and open to the public but seating is limited. Fast & flat course! \n\n\n\nThe race will kick off on Saturday\, February 14th at 7:30 AM with the Sea Turtle Half Marathon\, a beautiful destination run and a fast and flat course. This event draws athletes\, runners and families from all across the Southeast because of the unmatched scenery of the course\, adjacent to the white sandy beaches and turquoise Gulf waters. \n\n\n\nThe Sweetheart 5k and 1-mile Fun Run will start at 9:00 AM and 9:05 AM respectively. \n\n\n\nPost Race After-Party will be located at The Hangout. Come for the race\, stay for the party! Immediately following the race is a post race after-party in The Hangout courtyard with live music\, craft beer\, and games for the kids like giant Jenga\, foosball and ping pong\, foam parties and more. Participants will enjoy a post race hot pasta buffet\, and the award ceremony will take place in front of the main stage. The race coordinators will announce the winners for each category and age group.

SUMMARY:Point in Time Count: Hope for All Gulf Coast
DESCRIPTION:During the last week of January\, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires that communities receiving federal funding for homeless programs conduct a count of the homeless staying in shelters annually. As the lead agency for the AL-501 Continuum of Care\, HOPE leads this initiative in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Community volunteers and partner agencies canvas the area\, interviewing those experiencing homelessness. \n\n\n\nThis annual count allows us to get a snapshot of homelessness in Mobile and Baldwin counties at a single Point-in-Time\, and helps to identify gaps in the local homeless assistance system. The data collected at this event is also used to inform funding requests and planning efforts to better assist individuals\, families\, and youth experiencing homelessness. \n\n\n\nFor more information on the upcoming Point-in-Time count\, please contact Leon Bell\, Jr. at l.bell@hfal.org.

This one day event connects those experiencing homelessness with valuable services\, free of charge\, including healthcare\, legal assistance\, housing assistance\, veteran’s resources\, employment services\, hygiene services\, clothing\, supplies\, education\, identification\, and other vital assistance. \n\n\n\nFree transportation is provided for all persons experiencing homelessness in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Multiple pickup locations are provided in Baldwin and Mobile counties\, and public transportation is provided in the city of Mobile. \n\n\n\nThe backbone to Project Homeless Connect are the volunteers\, who join together to give back to our homeless community!
