DESCRIPTION:The United Way of Southwest Alabama will host its Annual Meeting on Wednesday\, October 1\, 2025\, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Mobile Battle House Hotel & Spa.  \n\n\n\nThe event will feature keynote speaker Tyrone Prothro\, former University of Alabama football standout and varsity football coach at Jasper High School. Known for his athleticism and inspirational story\, Prothro is best remembered for “The Catch\,” a remarkable reception during a 2005 game that earned the 2006 ESPY Award for Best Play. Although a career-ending injury cut his playing days short\, he has dedicated his life to mentoring student-athletes and sharing his powerful message of perseverance. \n\n\n\nThe Annual Meeting will also include a special awards presentation honoring individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the Southwest Alabama community. Attendees will hear messages from 2025 Board Chair Audra Harper of Harper Technologies and 2025 Campaign Chair Chris Esfeller of Regions Bank.  \n\n\n\nGeneral admission is $60 per person\, and tables of ten are $600. A limited number of VIP “Prothro Experience” tickets\, which include an exclusive meet-and-greet with the keynote speaker\, are also available. Additional bollards will be placed near the entrance\, and repairs will be made to the damaged brick pillar. \n\n\n\nMany nonprofits and families have contributed to efforts to preserve the history of the cemetery and of those buried there.
